Coconut Cocktail

Chances are you enjoy a cocktail or two (five…ten?) from time to time.  I believe in living a balanced lifestyle and part of that for me, includes kicking back and getting together with girlfriends and having a fun night out, or cooking dinner, drinking wine and enjoying the evening.  Personally, I look forward to days like this. Bonding with friends and family is truly a Soul Food Living experience.  There is nothing that feeds my soul more than being around people that support me, that bring positivity to my life and make me a better person.

More often than not, a good day with friends turns into a great night out with them. The morning after is a different story.  Lets just say what I don’t love about those nights are the hangovers that wake me up the following morning. We’ve all been there, pounding headache, grumbling stomach, your skin even takes a toll from a night of drinking and becomes very dry and dull looking.

So whats a girl to do?  End all happy hour meetings, cancel my next wine and dine with my girls, and cut out all sangria and margaritas?  Hell no, I’m good on that 😉

I started experimenting with what I thought would help fight a hangover.  One of the main reasons we feel so shitty after a night of too much drinking is because our body gets extremely dehydrated. Dehydration can cause headaches, dry mouth, dizziness, diarrhea, confusion, weakness (sound familiar) just to name a few things.  After a lot of expirmenting I came up with this easy, two second recipe that will turn your “day after drinking” into a “not so bad I can actually function” kind of day.

PLEASE make note, if you go on a drinking binge and drink for 10 hours or are at an all day party out on the water, you are going to need to hydrate A LOT.  The general rule that my mom taught me(thanks mom!) is one glass of water to every alcoholic beverage you consume.  Replace that glass of water with this Coco Cocktail and you will be good to go.  Also please keep in mind there is excess drinking that no magical cure can fix, so be mindful of how much you drink and know that there is a balance to everything, even drinking.  Remember to drink safely and responsibly. Cheers!
